$35,050 in Louis Vuitton Purses Stolen from Towson Store

The robbers used pepper spay on store employees who tried to stop them.

Four robbers stole 14 purses valued at $35,050 from the Louis Vuitton store at the Towson Town Center on Monday afternoon.

The robbers, described as men between the ages of 25 through 32, entered the store at around 2:30 p.m. Monday and stole the purses, according to a Baltimore County police report. The men used pepper spray on store employees who attempted to stop them.

The robbers left the mall and fled from the scene in a vehicle toward Joppa Road, according to the police report. Police searching the area were unsuccessful.

The notion that 14 purses can be "valued at $35,050" (over $2,500 per purse) merits its own separate entry in the crime log.

How many men where involved ? Furthermore, I cannot believe they had easy access to the purses. Two years ago, I was window shopping just outside of the store when one man was able to nab ONE purse that was left on the counter. A little Speedy model. The exit to the garage is alongside one side of the store. Maybe they need to move their location.

How on earth did they defeat several salespeople and mall security with pepper spray? Towson Town needs to beef up security in that wing with all the high-end stores and street access. There are plenty of places for me to spend my money. I don't want to take my chances at an unsecure mall just for the convenience of having several designer stores in one place -- I'd rather shop online and stay safe.

First of all, I'm pretty sure the sales people weren't exactly a bunch of football players. Second, the security at that mall is a joke. These stores get openly shoplifted all the time by groups that are recognized by the store owners and "security" just tells them to call the police.

The so-called Luxury Wing of Towsontown always seems deserted and a little creepy to me. I can see why a thieving thug would target it.

I'm really wreaking my brain trying to figure out how did these men get away with so much merchandise when in fact the purses are behind the counter, an the report says the only weapon was used was pepper spray......a inside job with either the store sales clerks or their security if you ask me

Not a bad thought, Ebony. I can just picture a couple of bored, low wage clerks standing around on a slow Monday hatching this plan. I would be interested in seeing any surveillance footage.

How do two people carry out 14 purses and then run down the hall with them? Picturing this just makes me laugh.

to ebony and kate .. apparently either you have never been pepper sprayed and/or don't know anyone who has taken a blast in the face at close range ..pepper spray will put you down and out ..unless you're a EDP or really drunk ..

@Holton....I'm not saying that pepper spray couldn't take a powerful affect on some one! Pretty much what I was saying is okay if you've ever went into this particular store (which I have) you have two security guards to greet you at the door....not including several employees walking the floor ready to assist you! Louis Vuitton don't have several purses just laying across the counter....they pull them from the draw behind the counter as you acquire about different ones. So the point I was trying make is how can these suspects get away with 35,000 worth of merchandise from behind the counter in a locked drawer...an the article mentioned that several employees we're pepper spray as they tried to go after them so this had to have been after they already had the purses in their possession

I would kind of doubt that the employees would make a huge effort to stop these guys. I couldn't see some low paid clerk risking life or limb to save inventory that is covered by insurance anyway.

@Lee I'm from the surrounding area in this particular location it's a escalator right next to the Louis Vuitton store that takes you right out the door into the street....I bet everyone who's commenting once this case is all said an done it'll end up to have been an inside job

Right alongside of the store is the parking garage. I was window shopping at LV a couple of years ago when there was a theft and the man ran out to the parking garage. The store clerk could have followed the man out to the garage but that could be a mistake....

No, the store clerk could not have followed the man out to the garage, because that would be against policy.

It was planned! They knew what day, time, how many employees an securities guards that would be in the store when this went down..an I believe it was a inside job!!

NO, you're incorrect. They said that the 4 men fled the scene of the crime, hate to break it to you but that is extremely typical of blacks to use such tactics.

Anyone would leave the scene after stealing something.....but blacks just do it so much better then anyone else. Not being racist, just stating very true facts.

The purses are all around the store on the shelves so if you buy one, than they go in the drawers or in the back to get them so basically it's to easy for somone to take them. They call it snatch an grab they do it all the time pull it up on line

They need better security, pay a security firm to work there they make more than enough money but they probably don't care cause insurance going pay for it anyway

not being racist just stating true facts you never know a person situation mostly if a person steal it because they are poor or broke... but whats the excuse for killing you own mom or shoot up a school full of kids or starting a cult and confusing god fearing people into having sex with each other and then commiting suicide....by the way what race were they?

After talking with someone who was there at the mall that day, 4 men (I didn't think to ask their race) came in, spread out, asked to see some bags & then started grabbing. Every bag is NOT in a case, it did not appear to be an inside job, and when security tried to stop them, they were pepper sprayed. These kind of snatch & grab rings are always around. Where do you think some of the shady looking street vendors get their merchandise & can sell it so cheap?

I was in a store one evening where the doors where LOCKED when a group of 3 came in. Two kids started going through the clothing racks asking the employees questions. The employees ignored me and paid close attention to 3 kids in particular. I just wanted to get out of there.

Most of that stuff is counterfeit, which is how they sell it for cheap.

We need to ban pepper spray. Then the criminals would think twice about using it illegally.

Whaat ? Pepper spray was originally used to fend of purse snatchers, dogs, ect. I am relieved they used pepper spray and not a gun. If they do get caught, which I doubt, they would NOT be charged with armed robbery - a more serious charge.
