Firefighters Battle Car Fire Under Towson Jail
The fire was reported shortly before 11 a.m.
Fire crews put out a car fire in a garage under the Baltimore County Detention Center Sunday morning.
Fire vehicles arrived at the scene shortly before 11 a.m. The fire was under control within a half-hour, fire department Lt. Jay Ringgold said.
"It's a high risk situation because it is in a high risk location, but really it's more of a nuisance situation," Ringgold said.
Personnel from the Towson fire station and Providence Volunteer Fire Co. were on the scene.
An alarm at the jail, located in the 700 block of Bosley Avenue, sounded, but it did not appear that the jail had been evacuated.
The westbound lanes of Bosley Avenue between York Road and Kenilworth Drive were closed by police as fire crews worked at the scene.
