Heymann Indicted as Alleged Shooter

The case involving a Pennsylvania man who was shot in a purported hunting-related shooting has been forwarded to Circuit Court.

Harford County resident Richard Heymann was indicted this week in Baltimore County on charges he shot and injured a Pennsylvania man in late November.

The indictment was handed down on Dec. 19, according to the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office. A preliminary hearing had originally been scheduled for Friday morning.

Heymann stands accused of shooting and severely wounding 43-year-old Christopher E. Kinne, of Lancaster, PA. Kinne was shot in northern Baltimore County on Nov. 27 while reportedly hunting on private property, according to court records.

Kinne meanwhile remains in rehabilitative care one month after the incident, according to family members.

Court records detail an altercation between Kinne and Heymann that began while the two men were hunting separately in Parkton. Heymann accused Kinne of trying to hunt on his friend's private property in a wooded area in the 300 block of Stablers Church Road.

Heymann advised Kinne that the police were called, while Kinne attempted to walk away from the situation.

"Upon Richard Heymann stating repeatedly to stay at the location to await police arrival, Christopher Kinne continued to state that he was not staying and attempted to walk toward Richard Heymann," according to the incident report.

Heymann told police that he threatened a warning shot, however, the only bullet fired wound up striking Kinne in the leg.

Kinne was transported via ambulance to York (PA) Hospital Shock Trauma with serious injuries.

Heymann, an Abingdon resident, faces a total of up to 35 years in prison for first- and second-degree assault charges.

Per the NRA, the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun? Which one is the good guy here? Neither one of these guys should be allowed to have a sharp pencil let alone a loaded gun.

How you deduced anything about "removing citizens rights" from my comment is very convoluted thinking on your part.

Good report, but indictments are handed up, not down.

Deer hunters just don’t walk around in the woods at 0500 looking to shoot people. Im wondering....why was this knucklehead (Kinne) on private property anyway and where was he parked to access a remote area as this?? Im willing to bet the farm, theirs more to this story then what’s being reported. Since I see he's from PA, probably one of those guys who think they can just walk and hunt where ever they want too. Should have stayed in PA that morning!!

yes, indictments handed up .. and verdicts are handed down ..
as the incident itself ... both are wrong .. tyhe hunter for trespassing ad the shooter for using a firearm to detain someone accused of a misdemeanor ..
as for take .. this is a perfect example of the improper use of fire arms .. and I wonder .. if the round fired was a warning shot .. where would a slug intended to disable have gone??

and what was Kinne doing on posted private property at 0500 hours in the first place.
I thought night hunting in an inhabated area is a no-no ..

I'm sure there is lots more to this story. Why Kinne would drive over a 1/2 hour from Lancaster to hunt on property where he didn't belong makes no sense. At 5 in the morning unfamiliar property lines frequently get crossed. It's a shame cooler heads did not prevail. I can only imagine what damage a 1 oz piece of lead to the leg can do, worse yet one of those solid copper sabots slugs...

If only he would have let him walk away.....

Wouldn't they have pressed charges against Kinne already if he was trespassing? He wasn't. And the cops came at 9 am. Not sure where the 5 am thing started.

It was state game lands. Don't you wonder why they haven't pressed charges against Kinne for trespassing?
