Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing 2 Beers From Towson Bar's Cellar
A Pikesville man is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center following the Tuesday incident.
Police arrested a man Tuesday evening, after he was found on the cellar floor of a Towson bar.
Officers responded to the Kent House in the 500 block of York Road shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday. When the officers arrived, they found a man lying on the floor, according to a police incident summary. According to police, he had entered through an unlocked cellar door and took two bottles of Guinness beer from a storage closet.
Police identified the man as Lewis Franklin Harvey, 53, of the 4700 block of Belle Forte Road in Pikesville. He was charged with theft, second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary and resisting arrest. He is currently being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center on $50,000 bond, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 17, according to online court records.
Harvey has a long list of prior arrests, including disorderly conduct and drug posession convictions in Ocean City dating back to the 1990s, according to court records.
The arrest was first reported by the Towson Times.

This does not surprise me at all. Did he fall in? I walk by there daily and I've noticed lately the trap door open blocked by bar stools. On another note, in the past several days I've noticed more pan handlers. The heavy set guy who broke the hand of the busker and stole $2.00 is gone and now a heavy set, well-dressed woman has taken his spot. She is asking for money to eat although she looks very well fed to me. Last night on my way to the 7 West at 5:30 p.m., a man walked up to me asking for money. He got way too close. We need police presence on the street!!! I moved to Towson because I THOUGHT I could walk everywhere and feel safe.

I couldn't agree with you more. I currently visit downtown Towson less and less. We DO need more foot patrols.

we have been approached a few times in that location. the last time by a woman, very slim, white skin, who was very intimidating in her requests. on another day we saw a man at about 5pm who was stumbling all over the place...fell into the street on his face, then proceeded into 7west where he was invited out. he was totally incoherent.
if the merchants on that street have any hope of surviving something needs to be done

Wow, that is some good Guinness if it put him on the floor after 2 bottles. Usually takes at least a 6-pack to get me in that condition...

More than likely, he was probably already in that condition BEFORE he fell into the basement. Glad to see our tax dollars will be paying for 3 hots and a cot for this guy for a long time. But....he did resist arrest and act out pretty badly. My guess is he has bigger problems.

I have been approached many times in Towson. There is so much riff-raff wandering around the area these days. We need to toughen up, get police ON THE STREET and protect our neighborhood before "sweet Towson" is a distant memory. Our super liberal beliefs and political correctness are killing us. Time to say " NO".

Hopefully the police will act as quickly to arrest the 2 thugs that held up my nephew at gun point last night while he was making a pizza delivery in Hillendale. I know it's not Towson and $45 isn't the same as 2 beers, but hopefully some priorities can get switched around and they can get 2 gun carrying punks of the street before they end up killing someone.

I usually carry a few extra dollars and a smile...personal security begins passively...

A few extra dollars and a smile - wonderful idea! I'll pass it on to the kind, smiling guy who played the violin on York Road and had his hand broken and $2.12 stolen by one of the panhandling vermin. Instead of giving a few extra dollars, why not give them the name of a shelter where they can get a hot meal and bed? I'll bet that will go over big.

That just perpetuates the problem. The police need to start more foot patrols through this area instead of just sitting in their cars. Downtown Towson is starting to look like downtown Baltimore. Oh wait! I almost forgot, Towson Circle III will fix everything, because it's so much different than Towson Commons!
