Man Arrested in Killing of Pregnant Girlfriend, Her Daughter
Brian Lamont Eggleston Jr. had been held in the city on unrelated charges.
UPDATED (5:18p.m.)—Police arrested and charged a Parkville man with the murders of his pregnant girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter in their apartment near Loch Raven Boulevard.
Brian Lamont Eggleston Jr., 28, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson.
Both charges could carry the death penalty. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on July 29 at 8:30 a.m. at district court in Towson. A public defender entered Eggleston's appearance in writing at a bail review hearing on Thursday.
Police discovered the bodies of Alicia Avery, 25, and her daughter Darry'el Parker on June 27 in their apartment in the 8700 block of Loch Bend Drive. Neither had been seen since June 23, according to charging documents. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head. Avery was pregnant, according to an autopsy.
Eggleston's last known address was the Loch Bend apartment occupied by Avery and her daughter, according to court records. On June 29, police announced that they had an arrest warrant for Eggleston, who was arrested in Baltimore City on Monday on unrelated charges.
Avery and Eggleton had a history of arguments, according to charging documents.
Avery told her mother she was planning to end the relationship. The domestic arguments did not result in charges or requests for restraining orders, according to court records.
Police learned from a relative that Eggleston shot at Avery while at his aunt's home in East Baltimore. That shot barely missed her head.
Police recovered the bullet and a ballistic examiner ruled that it matched the bullets used in the shooting on Loch Bend Drive, according to charging documents filed in District Court.
