Mays Chapel Man Killed In Overnight Towson Crash
A 26-year-old Mays Chapel man was pronounced dead after a car accident in Towson early Friday morning.
Police have released the identity of a man killed in a Towson-area car crash early Friday morning.
Erik Pachino, 26, of the unit block of Tudor Court, was killed when his 2006 Jeep Wrangler failed to negotiate the turn from westbound Fairmount Avenue onto northbound York Road around 2:04 a.m. Nov. 16.
The vehicle struck a curb, a traffic sign and a traffic signal pole before coming to rest.
Pachino was transported to the R Cowley Adams Shock Trauma Center by helicopter, where he was pronounced dead around 8:30 a.m.
Police believe that speed was a factor in the accident.

To be honest the short time I knew him he was full of sunshine and life! Like Julie and Arrielle said, there is no need for negative or shallow comments. Its a tragedy. No one is perfect, and no one drives perfectly either, so please keep your biassed judgements to your self.

It's a comfort to see the wonderful comments about Erik...I've known his father most of my life and have worked with him for the past 23 years.

Tipically, and fortunately, police do not release specific information about cause of death until after the last rights. RIP Erik

George, since you felt the need to address me directly, I'll respond. I certainly feel bad for the family and friends of Erik and am sorry for the tragedy of a life cut short. Unfortunately, there are certain vehicles which are just unsafe on the roads in that they provide little control or protection in an emergency situation, such as the older Jeep Wranglers and motorcycles.

I would like to let the family know that I was in the Shock Trauma Unit when Erik was brought in. The staff worked very hard to save his life. They really do care and try their best. My sympathy to the family and friends.

I too feel awful for the man and his family and my prayers go out to them. BUT .. as someone who grew up a little over a block away on Fairmount, still owns the home and might move back there one day, it angers me that someone would be be driving in such a way that he couldn't negotiate that simple merge area safely. Yes, it happened at 2 a.m., but to get there he had to drive past many residential row homes, was in an intersection that during the day has lots of pedestrians (two drug stores, a grocery store, a bank and several food outlets) plus there are two schools at that intersection. Please people, be more responsible behind the wheel.

just to set the story straight, there was no alcohol involved, that has been ruled out. this is his mom. erik was not a reckless driver and was unlike him to speed. obviously there was some unknown going on that precipitated this tragedy. please be kind in your comments, this was not something erik had done deliberately. this was an accident
