One Dead in Two-Car Towson Crash

Police shut down Providence Road Monday afternoon.

Update 4:35 p.m.—One person was killed in a two-car accident along Providence Road on Monday afternoon, police confirmed.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the accident between Green Acre Road and Hampton Lane.

According to police, a gray Acura traveling northbound on Providence Road somehow veered into the southbound lane and struck a blue Isuzu head-on. The driver of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Isuzu was taken by ambulance to Sinai Hospital, police spokeswoman Julia Hardgrove said.

Providence Road will remain closed until around 4:45 p.m., Hardgrove said.

The intersection here is dangerous as drivers often do not stop at the stop sign to go on Providence and folks are speeding down Providence Rd. like crazy getting on and off the Beltway. There needs to be more speed traps all the way up and down Providence. It is being used as a speedway.

You have it so wrong, an old man had a medical emergency and crossed the center line into the southbound lane and crashed into the blue car. It had absolutely nothing to do with speeding or intersections or any of that. Don't even comment if you don't know what you're talking about.

It had nothing to do with speed and it was not at the intersection.

I drove by right before the accident, and again right after it happened (before any EMS arrived- I would have stopped, but many others had already, and plus I am just learning to drive myself). Looked terrible. Not at an intersection. Heading southbound, it was just past the hill. Both cars had a ton of damage. I don't know if speeding was involved, but it looked like it was.
