Police Identify Towson Man Injured in Monday Crash

Tyler Jonathan Waldman, 24, is the editor of Essex-Middle River Patch.

(Update 4:50 p.m.)— Police have identified Tyler Jonathan Waldman, 24, as the driver of a Honda Civic who suffered life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Towson Monday morning.

Cindy Rivers, a spokeswoman for Shock Trauma, said Waldman remains in critical condition.

Waldman, of the 300 block of Stevenson Lane, is a graduate of both Towson High School and Towson University. He is also the editor of Essex-Middle River Patch.

Prior to taking the helm of the Essex-Middle River site, Waldman served as the Towson Patch editor for two years. He is the founding editor of the Towson site.

Early investigation shows that a Honda Civic was traveling on Goucher Boulevard through the intersection of E. Joppa Road, Baltimore County police said in a statement. A Ford Mustang, traveling eastbound on East Joppa Road, struck the Civic.

Waldman was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment, police said. The occupants of the Ford Mustang were taken to Sinai Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Police responded to a call about the accident at 9:17 a.m., said Julia Hardgrove, a police spokeswoman.

Officers are still investigating the crash.

Stay with Patch for updates.

The Maryland Patch team offers its thoughts and prayers to Tyler and his family in this difficult time. Tyler, who launched Towson Patch and is currently the editor for Essex-Middle River Patch, is an invaluable member of our team and is a friend to many of the editors in the Baltimore metro area. On behalf of all of Tyler’s Patch colleagues and fellow Towerlight alums, I ask that you keep Tyler and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I saw Tyler loaded up on the helo. He was conscious and alert. Firefighters extracted him from his vehicle after removing the roof of his car. Prayed for him at the site. I am amazed no one died. Please give thanks for the first resonders and his trauma team and ask God for Tyler to be healed

I feel terrible. I'm fooling around with some commentators and I see this. My neighbor is a nurse at Shock Trauma and they are the best in the world.

I hope Tyler will be OK and my thoughts go out to his family.

I grew up there and came through that intersection a million times.

Let's all hope for the best.
