Sunday Morning Fight Ends in Multiple Arrests
Police were forced to use pepper spray on a large crowd outside The Recher Theatre in Towson.
Police made "multiple arrests" early Sunday morning as the result of fights outside Recher Theatre in Towson.
There was a "A large party crowd that had wandered through the area," at about 1 a.m., said Cpl. J. Kelly, spokesman for the Baltimore County Police Department.
"We made multiple arrests," he said, adding that officers were forced to use pepper spray on the crowd.
Details on the number of people were arrested, their identities, or injuries were not immediately available, Kelly said.
Editor's Note: This article has been updated to note the correct location of the fights.

All the action happened outside the Rec Room and near the Towson Circle. A pickup truck from the fire dept was hosing down sidewalks near the Rec Room and the Circle to remove blood. The Rec Room closed sometime after. midnight and the crowds headed South. There was one small fight inside the Greene Turtle which ended quickly. There was a fight outside involving the crowd that was being forced down the street , but the fight continued to move South. The police did make arrests in the 400 block but most of the violence occurred near the Rec Room. Please check your sources better before rushing to get a story out

@JP Is this a result of the Morgan State event at the Recher? What was the race of the group of people causing the problems in Towson. I think, as citizens, we have a right to know. Baltimore County Police have to be tuff on these hoodlums, whether they are white or black. I don't want Baltimore County to become another crime ridden Baltimore City. Baltimore County offficials and police, please wake up! The taxpayers and residents of Batimore County don't want this disruptive behavior to become the norm in Baltimore County. A 571 % increase food stamps, overcrowded schools, a broken budget, and read the captain's quote. You might add a SS budget that is near tripling Section 8, high unemployment middle class flight. The got a new American where the flag is a symbol of controversy especially now in the Mid-East.

You seem to forget that the money coming from Federal Government is not free.

"Land of the Free" The bulk of food stamp recipients are children and the elderly. What do you want to go back to? Child Slavery? Put Grandma to work?
Local college kids have been drinking in Towson bars since time immemorial. Occasionally, they get into fights. Nothing has changed.
This incident happened at 1 AM. Families shouldn't have their children out at 1 AM.

Being raised in the 50's, we were poor and no one I knew ever received government assistance. We received help such as food, hand me down clothing and some monetary assistance from family. It was hard but we didn't eat steak and lobster like I see some EBT recipients buy now. Low income people feel the entitlement to have the same items as people that work every day to make a living to survive. They want to live in affluent homes, eat high priced food such as steak and lobster but don't want to work for it. Something is wrong with this picture.

As a Towson resident, we received an e-mail stating that due to Towson U's homecoming there would be an increased police and TU security presence in all surrounding areas. TU evidently put on a tight restriction on tailgating. We were encouraged to call 911 and the TU student hotline if we saw anyone or any home with TU students getting out of hand.
I cannot comment on the above event; but can comment on parents who come in and buy properties/rent properties for their spoiled children to come in to neighborhoods and act like idiots. Oh that's right this is a "college" town - I should move - Yes, I have been told that.
JDStuts

Towson is hardly a college town, it is too expensive. Beside, TU was primarily a teachers college through the 1940s, hardly the rambunctious hell raising types. The change was the baby boomers (always with the freakin' boomers - America's Worst Generation) and the growth of taverns that were sustainable largely due to the daytime foot traffic from the county courts/admin.
To associate Towson as a college town from the period that only began around the 1960s smacks of historical ignorance.

I don't think any town starts out as a "college town". But, with almost 22,000 students, many of whom live on or near campus, and with Towson's facilities expanding to the office buildings around town, as well as the close proximity of Goucher and Loyola, I think we can call Towson a college town. Cost does not matter. Boston is home to about a dozen universities and it's a lot more expensive than Towson.

There have been bars and college crowds in Towson for many years. I remember when the drinking age was still 18 and there were even more bars in Towson. At 2:00 the streets would regularly be packed, but there was never a riot situation. The cause of this latest riot is that the Recher management scheduled the Morgan State event during Towson's homecoming weekend. How many brain cells did this take? Is this the first year of Recher's existence? Did they not realize the potential volatile situation they were contributing to? Get a clue, Recher!

Moe, maybe if discipline, manners and responsibilty were taught in the home and schools, we, as a society wouldn't be in this mess. Today, there are no rules. it is do whatever you like. I am thankful there are police officers that are there to try to keep the peace. Now we, as citizens have to pressure the courts to do their job. No more revolving door in the court system. Criminals should be given 1 pass if it is a minor crime. Any more crimes committed should result in jail time. I will be glad to pay a special tax for maintaining jails. Maybe then these criminals would realize crime doesn't pay!

Things aren't any different. Food Stamp fraud is still a myth perpetuated by bitter old white bigots. It's the same thing with Voter Fraud.
