Stoneleigh, Oakleigh Elementaries Making Snowflakes for Sandy Hook

All county residents are invited to participate in the 'Winter Wonderland' project.

The Stoneleigh and Oakleigh elementary school Parent Teacher Associations are doing their parts to make the holiday season a little brighter for the Newtown community.

The Connecticut town was shook when a gunman killed 26 people, including 20 kids, at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14.

On Jan. 4, county residents are invited to stop by the cafeteria at Oakleigh Elementary School in Parkville from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. to create handmade snowflakes that would be used to decorate the Sandy Hook building, according to a flyer distributed by the PTAs.

Stoneleigh and Oakleigh are working with the Connecticut PTA, in connection with Sandy Hook, to make this Winter Wonderland project possible.

Participants are asked to bring scissors if possible, the flyer reads. Other necessary supplies will be provided.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Stoneleigh and Oakleigh are also accepting donations of paper, scissors, snacks and drinks. To contribute or for questions, email bcpta.help@gmail.com.
