Yes, Human Trafficking is in Towson. It is second only to Drug trafficking in the USA. And unfortunately very prevalent up the I-95 corridor. Ugly, horrific and makes me sick!

I feel compelled to comment. These women are not being "trafficked". They go where they want and leave when they want. The Asian mindset is very different to that of Americans. I am sure there are women who are enslaved in the sex worker world but it does not apply here and I have never seen it. These women are happy with their work and try very hard to please.
I would ask everyone not to judge this women and those she may or may not have employed harshly, they provide a much appreciated service.

FB, clearly you don't understand what human trafficking is. Women are trapped in trafficking not just by force, but also by fear, coercion, fraud and manipulation. The chains of human trafficking are not always physical. Sometimes women are kept in the life by drug addiction, other times by fear, and other times by psychological trauma bonding. Claiming that these women are "happy" in their work is ridiculous. No little girl says, "When I become a teenager, I want someone to sell me for sex day after day to strange men so that they can make a profit while I live in fear and dependency." Many women who are trafficked are really children with no way out.

FB-human trafficking is not something that women chose to be in. Do some research.

@J That is my point, these women choose to do this, hence I said these women are not being trafficked. Did you even read my post?
@Mark Stephenson: I don't want to reveal too much about you but how many of these women have you met to make your determinations? Seriously when you make your claims about places like Jade Heart Health you are barking in the wrong direction. I should also add that these women are well past teenagers or children but in their 30s and 40s. How many young girls dream of being a waitress at a fine restaurant and when they change places of employment to another restaurant through their contacts are they being trafficked. The women who work at Jade Heart Health and other similar establishments are not teenagers, are not trafficked and I have seen no drug addicts. I will not take the time here to explain how I know about the drug angle, but I must ask, have you ever seen drug charges included in any massage parlor busts?

I think people speaking on both sides of this issue should revisit their positions.
@FB: You're right, many of the women at these places are adults. You're also right that drugs are infrequently involved in Asian massage parlors. But, while the degree of subjugation varies from situation to situation, you have to recognize that there are some women who are initially, at least, forced and coerced into this lifestyle. Not all of them understand the nuances of the business initially, and probably expect to be performing legitimate massages. I have friends from Kenya and Nigeria, who - when they were younger - were lured to the U.S. by one of their countrymen with the promise of gainful employment in _________(pick any area), but upon arrival were robbed of their possessions and coerced into laboring or drug-trafficking for their captors. They were here illegally and did not speak English. Also, they were intentionally isolated from communities that could support them. While it might not have been slavery, these people were very much under someone else's control. On the other hand, when I was in college, I knew dancers and strippers from local bars who had sex for money, because they liked sex and they liked money- simple as that.
My point is we shouldn't hyperbolize these situations, but respect the nuances within them.

@FB You sound like a customer whom thinks good customer service and/or excellent acting skills implies consent. Isolde times a smile can mean the difference between a hand shake and a beating. Play on....funding terrorist like activities.

I am informing an uninformed public. Do you remember the hoopla about "milk carton" children statistics when it was revealed that the majority of those kids were taken by non-custodial parents? This is a similar situation.

This thing will never go away, As long as there is a "market' for it this will continue, Just at different levels. The same for the drug problem. If there wasn't a "need" for illegal drugs we wouldn't have a lot of crime in our communities. It just helps to fuel many of the criminal activities. I have spent the last two years trying to understand why our society has gotten to this point. Lots of research (in many areas ) as to why people do certain things. Some very hard to understand. I am writing a book but it will not be sugar coating where our society is today. I must be on the right track with a publisher waiting to accept it.

FB - if these women where just involved with JUST PROSTITUTION then the charge of human trafficking would not have come up. Someone has disclosed something more sinister than just a lay in the hay. Maybe the police should get your side of the story.

Let me ask you this. If she is believed to forcing women to be sex slaves, imprisoning them and then passing them onto to someone else would she be out on bail?, of course not. I know these women, they are free to come and go as they please, they have visa, green cards the whole nine yards. It is a common practice for the police and DAs to overcharge and then drop them before trial. I'll let you in on a secret the police don't always tell the truth, they do not have to tell the truth and they do lie. It is a myth that police have to identify themselves when asked and tell the truth. I hope you keep that in mind if you ever have to deal with them no matter how innocent you are.

I do not trust the police. I question anything they say. I guess the Police felt it was necessary to racial profile the situation to human trafficking hoping some charge sticks. Makes sense. I hope that is the situation.

I have seen stories about Chinese who are smuggled here and made to work in sweat shops sewing and such but not so much sex work, but I don't know about it and if I were aware I would call the FBI toot sweet anonymously. I pay close attention to foreign news organizations like Der Spiegel (Germany), Dawn (Pakistan( , and the National (UAE) and others and believe the problem is much greater in Europe with East European women.
