VIDEO: Shooting Victim, Hero Toss Ceremonial First Pitch
Daniel Borowy of Perry Hall High School and his guidance counselor, Jesse Wasmer, earned huge cheers at the playoff game at Oriole Park Sunday night.
Some of the biggest cheers at Oriole Park Sunday night came before the game even started.
A sellout crowd stood as Perry Hall High student Daniel Borowy threw out the ceremonial first pitch with his guidance counselor, Jesse Wasmer.
Six weeks ago, Borowy, 17, was seriously wounded when he was shot in the high school lunchroom, allegedly at the hands of a fellow student. Wasmer is credited with intervening and preventing further violence. Click here to see Patch's coverage of the Perry Hall High shooting.
Orioles fans were especially delighted to see the balls caught by Nick Markakis and Brian Roberts—two popular players who are unable play due to injury.

What a wonderful way to wake up, watching this video. Daniel and Jesse, although you didn't ask for any of this, you sure have handled it with class, dignity and grace. May you all continue to physically and emotionally heal from the trauma you endured.

I couldn't agree more PerryHallParent. Thanks Emily for posting this video. We kept watching for it on TV last night but with the rain delay we either missed it or it wasn't shown on television. We were so disappointed, but I should have known the Patch would be on top of it!!

No doubt - you are both a class act; I'll second that your dignity and grace throughout this ordeal exemplify our high school and the ideals it espouses!!

I was there last night... this was one of the best moments of the game in my opinion. The support from the crowd for those two was overwhelming and just awesome.

We are pleased to have captured this video, because it's our understanding that it was not shown on television. It was a very special moment, and it's great that Daniel seems to be in good health.
