Yeardley Love's Mom, Sister Appearing on "Katie;" Discussing 'Danger' App

The family of the slain Notre Dame Preparatory School graduate filmed with television personality Katie Couric in August.

With the sentencing of Yeardley Love's murderer behind them, the Cockeysville native's family is embarking on a new chapter.

As part of an initiative to speak out against domestic violence through the One Love Foundation—created in honor of the slain University of Virginia lacrosse student, Sharon and Lexi Love, Yeardley's mother and sister respectively, are slated to appear on television Thursday. The two interviewed with Katie Couric for the former CBS correspondent's new syndicated daytime talk show "Katie," which is produced by ABC, in August.

"[The appearance is] really driven around the One Love Foundation, and really about bringing awareness to domestic violence," said Chris Daley of Maroon PR, which represents the foundation.

The Baltimore Sun first reported the interview on its Z on TV blog.

The Loves are one of several guests in an episode centered on domestic violence, Daley said. The pair also discussed a new smartphone app the foundation is debuting on its website by the week's end. The app, created in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing asks users a series of questions to assess their 'danger' level in a relationship.

"It's based off of 20 years of research from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing," Daley said.

The episode is scheduled to air at 4 p.m. Thursday on WMAR Channel 2.

On Sept. 9, Notre Dame Preparatory School, dedicated a turf field named after alumna Yeardley.

George Huguely, Yeardley's ex-boyfriend and a fellow lacrosse player at the University of Virginia, was sentenced to 23 years in jail for her murder. Yeardley was found dead in her Charlottesville, VA apartment in May 2010.
