Some problems aren't so bad

by Kevin Kamenetz

Baltimore County Executive

In Baltimore County, we are proud to be the home of the Ravens. They may play their games in M&T Bank Stadium, but when the games are over and the lights are off, they make their home in Owings Mills. The preseason is always exciting, not necessarily because of the games themselves, but because we know football season is on the way.

As the Ravens play the Detroit Lions tonight in preseason tonight in Baltimore, things are a little different. For the first time in years, on the same night as a football game, the Baltimore Orioles are deep in a playoff race. The O’s may not make their home in Baltimore County the way that the Ravens do, but they are just as near and dear to our hearts as the Ravens.

So tonight, we face a dilemma that we haven’t had to deal with in ages, the prospect of flipping back and forth between Ravens football and a playoff race involving our own Baltimore Orioles. As problems go, this is a pretty good one to have and I know I speak for everyone in Baltimore County when I say its one we wouldn’t mind having every year.

Don't tell that to the unemployed, or those losing their business or can't buy homes.

A 571% increase in food stamps is not good new either. Did I mention the cost of Title One Schools has risen 63% and Section 8 housing is costing us close to $50 million a year or $8,700 per family.

The government got us in this mess so I would be careful on telling people it's as nice day when it's pouring on them.

Mr. Kamenetz I would think before writing a blog about how good things are because in fact they are not.

By the way I just paid my property tax and how much did the Ravens pay on their training complex when in fact they don't pay a dime. What as sweetheart deal that was.

It's a nice day for the right people. Thank you Dutch I'll renumber this at the polls.

The Ravens lease their facility maybe that's why.

My source says and he was working at the time in the administration that this was the deal Dutch struck in order to get them to come to the county.

According to this Sun article there is no mention of a lease and that could not be, given the nature of the deal struck.

Well, your "source" is full of Baloney.

Mr. engineer, doctor, lawyer and soothsayer of all, if I'm Baloney then provide the meat with a link and not just cause (sic) you say so. That don't cut the mustard, at least with you.

C'mon Clouseau, surely you know how to do a Maryland Real Property Search. The training facility's address is One Winning Way.

Bart you talk of a party on a deck. Not dumping on anything just speaking for the have nots, not the haves. You might be singing a different tune if you just got laid off and lost your home.

Just talked to a business man in Dundalk that had to borrow enough cash to open his register for the days work. Have fun on your deck. Better rethink your theme on the revenue aspect.

It's easy to say what you say from that deck you have with the burgers on the grill and your friends chasing them with cold ones.

I learned one thing as a cop, people never got too close to an accident scene. The reality of death and body parts scared the hell out them. The just got back into their air conditioned cars turned on the ball game and drove on.

Hangout at your Country Club you old Fool. Don't pretend you give a crap about the working man. If I was pushing 70 and in poor health I would be worried about death too.

I do hang out at the club. With your manners and character or lack thereof you would not get past the front door.

My last physical was fine. I train a Golds four times week and do well for my age which is a ways before 70.

You are no match. The playing ground isn't ever level. You're still in the little leagues.

Put up your money and join. You're an engineer. Can't you afford it? Money talks the rest walks.

Concerned Citizen that comment is rather strange since you hide behind a pseudonym and are afraid to stand behind what you write.

How can one hide behind their medical records when they were used in several hearings. If I was hiding behind them I would still be working at the job I loved, you know the one the county is now paying out almost a million in cash because of their ADA policies. That's the one where they were investigated by the Justice Department.

Now as far as positive thoughts, are you one of Bart's friends hanging on that deck enjoying a cookout with suds, or one standing in an unemployment line.

It's easy to be positive when your winning. You might want to ask the the 570% increase of those on food stamps if they are so positive.

It complacency and lack of accountability that got us into this mess. Being a concerned citizen I would think you want to solve humane problems and suffering rather than listening to ball games which is OK as long as the other work gets done first.
