County Councilman Todd Huff Monday acknowledged making "a very poor decision" when he got behind the wheel of his county-owned vehicle and later was arrested for drunken driving.
But that decision following what he called "a few drinks" at the Towson Elks Lodge may have been compounded early Saturday morning by a decision to not allow a sober passenger to drive.
Baltimore County Police confirmed Monday that Cheryl Huff was a passenger in the silver Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by the councilman at the time of the incident in Towson.
A statement of charges released Saturday shows that police released Todd Huff to Cheryl Huff, who is married to the councilman, following his brief arrest.
Several attorneys pointed out that police would not have released the councilman into the custody of someone who was intoxicated and incapable of driving.
The councilman has not spoken publicly about the weekend arrest or the presence of a passenger in the vehicle at the time.
In a statement issued yesterday, Todd Huff apologized but offered little in the way of explanation for the events that occurred over the weekend. He announced he was relinquishing his county-owned vehicle.
He made his first public appearance today during a council work session in Towson. He left immediately after the meeting and answered no questions.

Not surprised that he has continued his behavior at the Towson Elks Lodge, which is where he has visited for over 15 years. Notorious place for well known, high profile people like Todd Huff (arrogant assholes) who are served any amount of liquor. It's almost like a private club. Wouldn't surprise me if they had a candy room for drugs at that place. Raid it and revoke liquor license. Hello? And remove the crook from county councilman office already!

B. ridge, you obviously know nothing about the Elks. It might help if you were to do some research into this charitable and patriotic organization whose membership includes people from all walks of life. The Towson lodge alone donates thousands of dollars and thousands of volunteer hours toward helping the underprivelaged, veterans in nursing homes, and young people with scholarships, just to name a few. Your assumptions regarding this organization with over a hundred year history just in Towson are completely unfounded.

"Raid it and revoke liquor license" That's not going to happen. It the place the politicians and judges go to drink their 3 Martini lunches. It keeps them out of the public's eye.

To b ridge I have been a member of the elks for 25 years learn about our organization and what we do before you bash us. The comments you made about the elks are way off base sort of like me calling you a horses ass except I don't know you so I would be wrong to say that . To the rest of you bashing Mr Huff he is human like anyone of us and that means he is capable of making mistakes. Suck it up and move on people .this is old news

Todd Huff is a public official so I would expect a much higher expectation of better judgement from him. I believe the good old days of sweeping "bad behavior under the rug" are over. Voters must demand accountability from their politicians, both in their public and private life. If the politicians don't like it, they shouldn't run for office.
