Hi Ruth. When this was posted I sent a similar version the Sun as well as the offices of KamenetzRead Morean d Marks. I received no response from either office. Since this time the council approved the budget, allowing for the county to take these positions. The council acknowledge the communication by the county was not the best and that they hoped they would wait to take these positions until the new library director was in place. As you can imagine the county did not heed these recommendations and have made July 1the official transfer date.

This is a very scary power grab by our government and makes me wonder where it will end. First Fire Read Moreand Police departments. Now the Library. Which department will be next: Health, Social Services, Education? Whose to stop this? OIT is going to get pretty crowded while the tail wags the dogs! Thanks for your excellent efforts to shine light on what has become an unsettling and irrational trend. Unfortunately it's another example of the fact that "he who has the gold makes the rules." Very sad.
