DESCRIPTION:The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum located at Marti
 n State Airport is celebrating National Aviation Day on August 18 with a
 n open cockpit day\, displays by aviation organizations\, special events
  for children and other activities throughout the day. This national day
  to recognize aviation achievements was established in honor of Orville 
 Wright's birthday. The Museum will also be celebrating the 100 year anni
 versary of the Glenn L. Martin Company.&nbsp\;\nOn exhibit for this spec
 ial holiday is a replica of a 1911 Ely-Curtiss Pusher.&nbsp\;Fly Back to
  the birth of Naval Aviation in 1911 with a visit to this only flying re
 plica of Eugene B Ely&rsquo\;s 1911 Curtiss Pusher.&nbsp\;Built by Bob C
 oolbaugh of New Market\, Virginia\, this flying machine is on its journe
 y across America\, celebrating the Centennial of Naval Aviation.&nbsp\;\
 nThe Ely-Curtiss Pusher&nbsp\;pioneering&nbsp\;United States aircraft\, 
 one of the first to be built in quantity\, &nbsp\;was designed with the 
 engine and propeller behind the pilot's seat.\nAlso joining the Museum f
 or celebrating aviation achievements will be aviation organizations the 
 99's\, Silver Wings\, the Baltimore Chapter of the American Rosie the Ri
 veter and 21st century space technology pioneer Blaze Sanders with Solar
  Systerm Express&nbsp\;and the JURBAN Google Lunar X PRIZE team\, showin
 g that youth is the future of aviation and aerospace.\nAt 11:30am\, Fred
  Hall will share his experience with the Berlin Airlift.\nAt 12:30\, the
  Museum's theatre-in-residence\, Thirst 'n' Howl Musical Productions wil
 l present its original musical "Right Place\, Right Time\, Wright Brothe
 rs"\, sharing the story of the Wright brothers' quest to build a flying 
 machine.&nbsp\;\nChildren's activities will be available throughout the 
 day.\nA visit to the Museum offers visitors the opportunity to launch a 
 dream and capture a memory as they can experience air travel of the 1950
 's and board the Museum's 1952 Martin 404 passenger airliner. And for ch
 ildren dreaming of being a pilot or for adults wanting to discover the v
 iew of a pilot in flight\, visitors can sit in the pilot's seat of one o
 f the Museum's jet fighter aircraft. The Museum's new exhibit "They Answ
 ered the Call"\, a salute to the World War II employees of the Glenn L. 
 Martin Company will be open during this event and offers an air-conditio
 ned opportunity for discovering 1940's Middle River\, its people and the
 ir communities and service to their country.&nbsp\;
