Brooks Robinson is resting comfortably at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, the Orioles great announced in a statement, a day after falling ill with an infection and fever.
Robinson, 73, was scheduled for a routine procedure at GBMC this week when he developed the infection. The hospital said in a statement Friday that he is responding to antibiotics.
In a statement to the Baltimore Sun, he thanked fans for an outpouring of support and asked for privacy. GBMC has received many phone calls and emails from concerned fans throughout the region and announced Friday that they have set up an email address for fans to send well-wishes for the hall of fame third baseman.
