From Towson University: This exhibition honors the life and work of an imaginative and versatile artist, Amalie Rothschild (1916-2001). Rothschild produced over 1,500 works—350 of which are in private collections and museums—including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Phillips Collection, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Walters Art Museum. In 1957, she won the purchase prize at the Corcoran Gallery of Art Biennale. In December 2000, the University of Maryland University College presented her with a Maryland Lifetime Achievement Award. The exhibition is in conjunction with the publication of a book on the life and work of Amalie Rothschild, with essays by Amalie R. Rothschild, Angelo Pontecorboli, Nancy G. Heller, J. Susan Isaacs, Fred Lazarus IV, Herbert L. Kessler, and Percy North.
