‘Kitchen Nightmares’' Return to Café Hon Airs Friday

Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay checks in on the Hampden eatery after his visit last year.

Gordon Ramsay’s "Kitchen Nightmares'" return to Café Hon will air on Fox Friday night, according to the show’s website.

Ramsay, a celebrity chef known for his obscenity laced rants, first visited the Hampden restaurant in 2011 after the eatery nearly went under following its owner, Denise Whiting, trademarking the colloquialism "hon."

The controversy lead to a series of protests, boycotts and bad publicity for the café, and Whiting told Ramsay on the show she was on the verge of going out of business.

But when the show concluded, after a makeover of the restaurant and its menu, and Whiting apologized for the trademark kerfuffle, all seemed to be right with the world.

As of this afternoon Café Hon was still open and operating.

Find out how things are going when Ramsay’s return visit in May is when the episode airs at 8 p.m., Friday on Fox.

After seeing the announcement of Gordon Ramsay coming back for a revisit of Cafe Hon I had to review the 1st episode of the first time that he was here. All I can say is that Ramsay knocked her down a few marble steps in that episode. It's gong to be very interesting Hons to see if she stuck to what he did for her. Here's the link to that infamous 1st episode. http://www.fox.com/kitchennightmares/full-episodes/10945394/cafe-hon

I had never been to Cafe Hon. A few weeks ago we were looking a for a place to grab an early dinner. I watched the show and thought we were safe. First, bad booth -- wet seats; really wet. The hostess was very put out when she had to re-seat us in an empty restaurant. The burger was just average, as were the fries. The famous shake wasn't available. A hot fudge sundae wasn't even great. The ice cream was icy and certainly not a premium brand. We won't be going back.
