Lilly Pulitzer, L'Occitane Among Towson Town Center's New Stores

The mall unveiled four new stores and one reopening in an event Wednesday morning.

Four new national retailers will set up shop in luxury wing, mall officials announced Wednesday.

Marbles: The Brain Store, Sur La Table, Lilly Pulitzer and L'Occitane are slated to open on the second floor (near Crate & Barrel) by September. A fifth store, White House Black Market, will move from the third floor to a new space in the luxury wing.

The new additions, totaling more than 12,000 square feet of space, will nearly fill the luxury wing, which opened in 2008 and now includes tenants such as Crate & Barrel, Tiffany & Co. and the Pottery Barn. The new stores will help solidify Towson Town Center's position in the Baltimore market, said Charles Crerand, the mall's general manager.

"The luxury wing has been extremely successful, and the additional occupancy is only going to make it better," Crerand said. "I think it'll be a more unique shopping experience."

There are still several vacant spaces in the wing. Crerand said the mall has "a couple of new leases" in the works for new stores which could open as soon as next spring.

A trio of Dixieland musicians followed Crerand as he led guests on an unveiling of the new tenants.

Some of the new faces were on hand for Wednesday's announcement. Marbles will offer new, classic and offbeat brain games for kids of all ages. Customers can ask to try or learn how to play games, and the store will host a monthly game night.

"Any time people want to come in and play sometime, we're happy to set it up so they can try it out," said Bree Patarini, manager of the chain's Columbia location.

Sur La Table, founded in Seattle in 1972, sells specialty kitchen tools and cookware. The chain currently has a store at Annapolis Towne Center, its only location in Maryland.

Lilly Pulitzer will be making its first foray into the Baltimore area with its 1,797-square foot location. The colorful Palm Beach, FL designer expects to open its Towson location by early August.

L'Occitane specializes in Mediterranean beauty products, with an emphasis on natural ingredients and fair trade products. The Towson location is expected to open by July.

"I think any time we get a group of upscale businesses like that it really shows what Towson's all about," said Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce. "We have the nice, little, quaint mom and pop kinds of shops, and then we have these nationally-known merchants that realize what a good investment Towson is."

Many of the new stores are now hiring. Visit their websites for more information.
