Although the brunt of superstorm Sandy has passed, Baltimore Gas & Electric officials caution that additional outages are expected.
New outages may occur over the next few days as tree and tree limbs weakened by the storm continue falling, according to a news release. As of 2:36 p.m., electric service was restored to more than 166,274 customers.
The BGE current outages map shows that 150,705 customers are still without.
More than are assisting in ongoing restoration efforts, the release states.
Customers are asked to report power outages and downed wires by calling 1-877-778-2222.
Our community looses power all of the time...so we know the drill...a BGE truck comes up the street and slowly examines the lines and tries to determine the root cause of the problem, then later (typically 6 to 8 hours later), the BGE trucks come and fix the issue, then flip the main switch, and we all have electricity again. We have had MULTIPLE BGE trucks in the last 2 days, SPEED down our road....because they're not examining it, but they're using our road as a CROSS-ROAD b/c it's a dirt/ gravel road that they won't ruin line other precious paved roads would be with their trucks....it's like waving a steak at a starving child. On TOP of that...there are NO DOWNED wires in our community...the whole this was tripped by the branches of tree falling down. AND just try to call BGE to lodge a complaint...it's impossible.
Give them a fricking break!
You work the shifts they work, sometmes in a strange place far from home, and then try complaining about how they do the job. If you don't like how they do it, buy a generator.
