How's Your Power Situation, Towson?

Some West Towson residents got their power back—then lost it again.

Once was enough.

But as the thunder roared again early Monday morning, some West Towson residents found themselves again without power.

"I was so happy we finally had ice cubes built back up into the freezer, and goodbye ice cubes," said West Towson resident Sonja Burns.

Burns' power finally came back just before 10 a.m. Monday.

"Maybe Towson is just about to come back into the light," she said.

Her first outage lasted from Friday night to early Sunday morning. During the outage, she said, she, her husband and their cats found way to keep cool and entertained.

" was still open, so that seemed to be where everyone gravitated to the morning after. So I had my coffee and my bagels, so it's OK," Burns said. "It's a little adventure. When it starts to drag on for days and then a week, it starts to be more of a pain."

Another West Towson resident told Patch in an email that they heard a loud explosion and saw a flash outside their window on West Pennsylvania Avenue just after 1 a.m. Monday morning. The resident saw crews respond to what appeared to be a loose power line.

Check out what other West Towson residents are saying on our Facebook page.

According to BGE, more than 230,000 customers remained without power regionwide as of 10:50 a.m. Monday, including nearly 66,000 in Baltimore County.

Elsewhere in Towson, Patch's Doug Donovan writes about how . Much of Rodgers Forge was apparently restored overnight, including this editor's apartment.

You tell us: What's the outage situation like where you are? How do you feel about BGE's response to the storm?

Still without power on Regester Avenue in Anneslie. I hear BGE crews are nearby, though. Milk spoiled this morning.

They'll probably have to cancel the 4th of July parade. With most of West Towson dark the last thing they need is to have crowds interfere with the power restoration efforts.

So... did we have any take-aways from the talks last September that were applied to this event? Was that just idle chatter and we'll accept "we are doing the best we can (with the limited resources we choose to apply)" - Do we need another talk with BGE ?

Loch Raven. No phone, No Cell, No Electric, A perfect storm for thieves. After 19/20 hrs with no Electric it finally was restored.. Lost everything in the Fridge, except mustard and relish but I'm alive and well. Lived in the Midwest for 3 years, storms like this were common. When the hair started to raise on my arms I knew this was a bad sign, the air was charged with electricity and ready to strike, I headed to the basement and waited, and waited for the sound of the TRAIN, but thankfully for myself and neighbors it did not come..... Sunday morning, cleaned the fridge, found a dumpster and headed to the grocery store to shop in White Marsh.
We were lucky, "this time". Hang in there.

I shot the video and I've heard the power came back on late this morning again. I'm assuming a lighting strike caused this, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, that's what Sonja was telling me, that it came on where she was right before she called me. Thanks for sharing the video!

David, is it too soon to ponder, as well, if BGE plans on passing along the bill to its customers after restoration is completed? I do NOT know if this actually happened. Others, do you know if BGE was allowed to pass along the costs to its customers? http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2011-09-21/business/bs-bz-bge-irene-report-20110921_1_bge-customers-central-maryland-customers-hurricane-irene

Still no power for a bunch of us in West Towson. Over 60 hours now & not a flicker.

We're still out in Stoneleigh.

We are still without power on Maryland Ave. Three inches of standing water in the basement and 90 plus degrees in the house. I pray today is our lucky day. Sweet friends of ours are letting us use their house as they vacation. People like this make this inconvenience bearable. While BGE may not have fixed our problem yet I believe we would do better to praise their efforts and be thankful. I don't think they are intentionally keeping us in the dark so we will send them hate mail or use our limited cell life on hold with them. Take a look around...Wiltondale residents have extension cords across the streets to help neighbors out! Let's focus on the community and friendship we see around us as we weather this storm.
