BOE Approves $72M Proposed Capital Budget

The proposal is notable for its focus on providing air conditioning to schools without.

The Baltimore County Board of Education unanimously approved Superintendent S. Dallas Dance's at its Tuesday night meeting.

The $72,275,070 proposal, which is notable for requesting for eight county schools, will be part of funding requests made to the state and county next year. Additionally, if approved, air conditioning will also be provided to schools slated for renovations that are still without.

State Comptroller Peter Franchot earlier this year for not requesting air conditioning funding in the fiscal year 2013 budget.

The 30 school projects are listed on the proposal—attached to this article—by order of priority.

The 2014 budget year begins July 1, 2013.

I hope that the HVAC proposals involve or include geothermal HVAC. We just moved from Catonsville to WV and our new retirement house has geothermal. It is fantastic -- like printing money. Much less expensive to heat and cool the house than with any other method. It is GREAT! They could put the piping under the schools' parking lots using a trench method. Google it!
