Parade to Kick Off AVFD Carnival

A parade down Oregon and East Drives will officially open this year's carnival.

A 7 p.m. parade down Oregon/East Drive tonight formally opens the annual Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department carnival.

Participants should arrive for the parade line-up at 6 p.m. at Tom Day and Southwestern Boulevards, according to the AVFD website.

The week-long carnival features games, rides, a beer garden and perennially favorite carnival foods.

The carnival will be in operation from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. until Saturday, July 21.

Patti, The ABPA's clean-up person does a good job of keeping East Dr. and a good portion of the Orgeon/Carville Ave. median areas clean on a regular basis, but I wasn't sure if a special clean-up effort was normally made courtesy of ABPA in cases of parades, or if a designated cleaning crew was assigned by AVFD or Balto. Co. after parades. Do you know who cleaned up after the July 4th Parade.? A very thorough job was done. Halethorpe Improvement Assoc. maintains the Oregon/Carville Ave. median strip from I-95 bridges to Francis Ave., and they had it pretty much litter free until yesterday's parade. The littered site brought much disappointment to us. Do you know if any special parade clean-up efforts along this are being addressed by any organization?

what a shame there is no respect for the community. not sure who does clean up but one would think it would be the responsiblity of the group putting on the event.

The ABPA and some AVFD members went through the entire parade route this afternoon and did a good job cleaning up the litter left behind. Halethorpe Improvement Association thanks them.
