Police Nab Burglars During Cookie Heist

The Great Cookie at the Towson Town Center was hit for treats twice in the span of a week.

Looks like the cookie's crumbling for two 16-year-old boys with allegedly sticky fingers.

Two juveniles were arrested after Towson Town Center security officers caught the pair jumping over the counter at The Great Cookie and stealing cookies at around 2 a.m. Monday, Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Det. Cathy Batton said. The burglars ran away from the store but were caught by responding police officers.

Two days earlier, at about the same time Saturday, burglars stole 24 pounds of cookies—half chocolate chip, half snickerdoodle—from the bakery. A Towson police precinct report incorrectly listed the date of this burglary as Tuesday. Batton said the mix-up occurred because store managers did not call about the incident until that day, after reviewing video surveillance.

Police do not believe the two burglaries are connected, and are unsure how the burglars were able to enter the mall after hours.

Batton said the burglars in the Monday incident stole "much, much less" than 24 pounds.

The Great Cookie was also burglarized of dough in August—$300 cash, that is.

I'm completely confused, How did this crime happen at 2am, the same as the previous. Doesn't the place close at 9pm (andr 6pm on Sunday)?

What's the point of stealing cookies???

Probably a dare. Take the food to a deserted area like a park and share it with friends( I used to be involved in something like that, in my day though, it was stealing fruit from Mr.Dominic's fruit trees...all the kids would attempt it). I know in Towson for a while, there was a gang that would steal candy bars out of drugstores and go to a park and eat them, this was like 6 or 7 years ago.

Stealing is stealing whether it be cookies or something else. Who cares if it may have been a dare, its a crime plain & simple. What were they doing out at 2 am in the morning?

Juveniles out at 2am?? Where is parental supervision. If courts forced parents into parenting classes when their kids committ crimes, society would be better off.

How did the juveniles get into the mall at 2am? Were was mall security? Hope the juviniles that were caught their parents have to go with them for some kind of classes so stealing cookies will be the worse they ever do.

Actually, depending on the age of the juveniles....If the County still has the program from several years back, the kids and parents have to attend multiple classes, community service. etc.

Thanks for the info Mrs. Carter. It is peace of mind if Baltimore County forces parents to be held accountable for their childrens' actions. I pray Baltimore County doesn't become the crime ridden cesspool Baltimore City.
