Robbers Target Teens Near Towson Town Center

One robber implied possession of a gun, Baltimore County Police said.

Two men, including one who implied he had a gun, robbed three teenage boys near the Towson Town Center Wednesday evening, Baltimore County Police said.

The robbers approached the boys, who were standing at a bus stop outside Macy's on Dulaney Valley Road, between 6:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., said Cathleen Batton, a police spokeswoman. While conversing with the juveniles, one of the robbers lifted his shirt so the boys could see an object in his waistband.

The juveniles believed he was implying that he had a gun, Batton said.

The robbers then stole two iPhones and a bag of clothing purchased at the mall before hopping on a Maryland Transit Administration bus traveling south on York Road, police said.

The incident was reported at 9:29 p.m. Wednesday.

The robbers were described as men between the ages of 20 and 25 with medium builds and brown eyes, police said.

Men, 20-25, with medium builds and brown eyes That's all they recalled about them? Really?

Hooray for MTA! Towson, Timonium, and Cockeysville would be so much better off without the busses or light rail!

We need police presence! How is it possible right there that those kids could not scream and get someone's attention. Come on, TTC ...And now we are going to add the lure of a multiplex and a nightclub! We are going to see alot more of this. Roving security cars are not the solution without on the ground planted security. You should be able to call out for help from anywhere in and around that mall.

On February 13th at around 1:30am. A friend was robbed and beaten unconcious at Allegheny Ave. near the Towson Nights Hookah lounge. There was a large presence of African Americans in the street. One,,, dove into his car and as he tried to flee the suspect held on. As my friend tried to remove him from his door, in the county parking lot near Kent Fischer Furs, two more large African American Males joined in. My friend was knocked unconcious. The Police found him near Allegheny Ave. He was Hospitalized and the Police are investigating. My friend was dressed in a coat and tie. This is not the first time for large American crowds on Tuesday nights into Wednesday Mornings, near the Hookah Lounge.. Another of our elderly members found a Kid dancing on his car in the County Pay lot and was powerless to stop it. Towson is officially out of control! There is insufficient Police presence to gaurantee your safety. I was there again last night and called Towson Police Staion to send Police to qwuell a disturbance in the unit block of Pennsylvania Ave. Enter at your own risk,, especially late at night. Either more private security needs to be hired, or we need more Police presence in Towson,,,, Period!

So do I look for 2 white males or 2 black males or Hispanic. Why does everyone who writes for the patch never tell the ethnicity of the people. See if you cam fond me. I am white and just stole something. Good luck

Spoken like a guy who clearly has a car! Some people don't have an option, but to take the MTA. While my family has several cars, my 15 year-old son took an MTA bus, most days last summer, to a summer job downtown. Personally, I'd support the addition of surveillance cameras on all mass transportation, like in Europe rather than cut-off needed transportation. Would cameras be considered an invasion of privacy..., well, they do call it "public" transportation.

Was this reported anywhere? This is the first I read about it. If it's true, with all the stories about Towson crime you would think the Patch would have run the story.

MTA and section 8 took down Golden Ring and now White Marsh Mall and the Avenue are on the way out. Gone from a safe, family friendly area to police helicoptors and sirens almost every night and the PC crowd never report it. (I listen to a CB scanner). Very sad and very frustrating....Sold out for votes with my own tax money.

Mass Transit and Subsidized housing has nothing to do with increase in crime. It's been studied over and over and their is nor correlation/causation. None. Zippo.

Dream on, Steve-o.

Steve, thx for the comments. Unfortunately the study you are refering to neglected to use me in their data collection base. You see, my house was robbed while I was sleeping and my car was stolen from my garage along with many other valuables. The only evidence left behind were two bus passes (MTA) and a cherry gatorade. Guess these studies were done by folks that take the MTA and live in section 8 housing....

Anecdotal evidence at best. ......and it's "studies". There have been at least a dozen or so that I know of and they all reach the same conclusion.

Nicholas Richardson: All mass transportation in MD has surveillance cameras, except for the Marc Train, I think.

There is no such thing as a 'Greenmount bus'.
