No one was reported injured as fire crews responded to an early-afternoon fire Monday in West Towson.
The one-alarm blaze in the 400 block of West Joppa Road, at the corner of Morningside Drive was reported at approximately 1 p.m., and under control by 1:40 p.m. Four engines, including rews from Towson and Texas fire stations and Providence and Lutherville volunteer fire companies, responded.
The three-floor building includes several apartments, and the fire involved an annex on the lower level. County fire crews requested the assistance of the Red Cross for three adults and three children who were displaced, fire department spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher said.
As of 1:45 p.m., West Joppa Road was blocked between Bosley Avenue and just past Morningside Drive.
A fire department spokeswoman said it was unclear at this time how the fire began.
The home is a rental property. The owner was not present, but some of the tenants were.
"At first it was like a little bit of smoke, then it was like a little more, a little more, a little more," said Roy Nickols, who was there to pick up his sister and arrived shortly before the fire trucks came to the scene.
