2 Charged in Towson Man's Murder

Al-Sawab Sawab died after suffering from multiple gun shot wounds, police said.

Baltimore County police have charged two men in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old Towson man.

Police said they found Al-Sawab Sawab on Nov. 25 suffering from multiple gun shot wounds at his residence in the 7000 block of Lachlan Circle. He later died from his injuries at Sinai Hospital.

Kenneth Johnson, 22, and Deonte Robinson, 18, were charged in connection with the death, according to a police statement.

Police said Johnson and Robinson went to Sawab's apartment to buy marijuana. A confrontation ensued when Johnson did not have enough money to pay Sawab, and Robinson pulled out a handgun, according to the statement. Robinson allegedly fired at Sawab, and continued to do so as the victim attempted to flee.

Johnson and Robinson took the marijuana with them when they left the scene, police said.

Johnson, of the 1200 block of Walters Avenue in Baltimore, was arrested on January 15 and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of use of a firearm during a felony crime, according to the statement. Police obtained a warrant for Robinson, of the unit block of Polaris Court in Parkville, on Jan. 23.

A booking photo for Robinson was not immediately available.

Somehow, I really don't feel all that sorry for old Sawab.
Harry Callahan January 30, 2013 at 06:45 PM
Let us have a moment of silence for the dearly departed Mr. Sawab. Gone to his final reward while he was just trying to get by in a tough economy the best way he could...by selling drugs. Nothing to see here. Never mind the fact that Mr. Sawab pead GUILTY to SECOND DEGREE MURDER in a previous case (along with various drug dealing and distribution charges). Let's remember Mr. Sawab for the good points of his life...sorry, but I can't think of any. It's too bad that Mr. Sawab and his accused killers don't end up performing some useful service to society like being fed alive to the sharks at the National Aquarium. Maybe someone will read this column and chastise us for failing to love Mr. Sawab as much as they do/did.

Underground economy issues again. Legalize and tax it and this sort of incident goes away.
Harry Callahan January 30, 2013 at 08:56 PM
JD, Don't you understand it? We don't want this to "go away". This is the only sure fire (pun intended) way to get rid of Maryland's ciminal element. I would like to hear about several hundred of these incidents EACH DAY. Let them kill each other as quickly and as efficiently as they can. The more of these scumbags that kill each other and then kill each other in retribution for earlier killings means that we don't even have to spend money on the police to find and apprehend them, spend more money to provide them with attorneys when we prosecute them in court, and spend even more money housing and feeding their worthless a$$es if, on the off chance, that they are convicted and sentenced to lengthy prison sentences. I say let them kill each other as fast as possible and let God sort 'em out.

Gee these sure are callous and shallow and heartless comments.......... as for me he did not deserve to die over some pot , suppose it was alcohol, ? I know its legal but much much worse for you ,,,,,,,, they're cowards
Red Dolphin January 30, 2013 at 10:53 PM
Had Sawab been caught doing what he was doing he'd be on probabtion ( chances are) , these cowards are going away for along long time
Red Dolphin January 30, 2013 at 10:54 PM
and to make sarcastic comments about a mans death ? How coward fo you
Arnie Kappeler January 31, 2013 at 01:06 AM
No one deserves to be murdered, ever.
Red Dolphin January 31, 2013 at 03:02 AM

tonight at about 9:15 three thugs robbed the "sub way shop" on Waltham woods, Now those violent offenders do deserve the heaviest penalty allowed by law ( key word is Violent)
Harry Callahan January 31, 2013 at 01:07 PM
Arnie, Maybe you should send your condolences to the person who Mr. Sawab MURDERED in the case where he PLEAD GUILTY. Have you ever heard of karma?
Camille February 01, 2013 at 01:51 PM
You don't judge a book by it's cover unless you no the whole story. Sawab killed that man In self defense because that man came into his home with a ski mask on and shot him first you idiot @ Harry Callahan
Anon reader February 01, 2013 at 06:49 PM
You a**hole. If you could fu**in READ Harry Callahan you would know that Mr Sawabs prior case was in SELF DEFENSE. How dare you speak ill of a deceased man.
Harry Callahan February 02, 2013 at 01:38 AM
Anon reader, You seem to know so much about that case maybe you can explain something to me. Now I'm not a lawyer, but I do watch a lot of trials on TruTV and I am a big fan of Perry Mason. From my understanding of the law, no one ever has to PLEAD GUILTY in a case where they were NOT GUILTY of the crime for which they are charged. Now, since the late Mr. Sawab was, according to you, deemed to be acting in self-defense, why would he PLEAD GUILTY to 2nd Degree MURDER if he had a perfect case of SELF DEFENSE? I'll tell you what happened in the case. Mr. Sawab told YOU, "Hey, bro, I mean the dude was goin' to do me man. You feel me? So I kilt him before he could git me. Man, I didn't do nuthin. They jus' tryin' to frame me man." And you, sir/maam, believed him.
Harry Callahan February 02, 2013 at 05:03 PM
Camille, You sound like that other idiot Anon Reader. Please, tell us all, why ANYONE, especially your friend the late Mr. Sawab, would PLEAD GUILTY to second degree MURDER when he had the PERFECT DEFENSE of acting in SELF DEFENSE? We are all waiting to hear why he PLEAD GUILTY when, according to you, he must have been INNOCENT because he was acting in SELF DEFENSE.
Harry Callahan February 03, 2013 at 04:56 PM
We haven't heard back from poor Camille or her pal Anon Reader about the "true facts" concerning the late Mr. Sawab's 2nd degree MURDER conviction. I guess that they are too broken up about his departure from this mortal coil.
Gib February 03, 2013 at 09:48 PM
Well, Harry.... You're doing doing either one of two things if not both which would be lying or getting your facts from ppl who don't have a clue. Al-Sawab Sawab Never Ever plead guilty to any kind of murder charge. Years ago 2 men in ski masks broke into his home and one of those men shot him in the leg and during the ordeal Al-Sawab was able to get to his gun shoot back and he hit one of the men in the head and that's a fact. There were pieces of the ski mask left in the mans head so with all that proof those charges were dropped, thrown out! He did go to prison after the situation because of a weed charge not because of murder of anything related to that shooting. I know this because Al-Sawab Sawab was my brother. I can accept my brother dying because I have no choice I have to. He's gone and I gotta live with it but one thing that I won't accept is cowards hiding behind fake names online making things up to turn my brother into something he wasn't. He was a son a brother and a great father and I miss him dearly. You wouldn't say one thing you're saying to me in personor anyone close to him . So go head keep talking that's ok, I won't respond again but hopefully from now on anyone that comes across this comment section they'll see you for what you are a COWARD. Sincerely Gibran Sawab
Gib February 03, 2013 at 11:13 PM
Ps..... I know that you watch a lot of Tru tv smh... Well I was in actually in the courtroom the day my brother was sentenced on the weed charge and guess who was there in support of Al-Sawab with me and my family... The mother of the man you say my brother murdered. I've met her and she's a good and understanding woman she new what happened and while I'm sure It was hard for her because know one deserves to bury their child, she understood that my brother did what he had to do, he had No Choice. It was something that he wished he didn't have to do. So there's some of those facts you've been waiting to hear. Now I'm done. Sincerely Gibran Sawab
Farrakhan February 04, 2013 at 06:40 PM
Gibran and Camille please don't waste your time trying teach random people on in the internet about our brother and fiance!!! He wouldn't waste his time on it, we have a family to hold up, nephews, nieces and children to be there for! @Harry and anyone else who has something to say about a man you don't know just realize "You don't know " Al Sawab is with the Angeles of Allah simple and plain!! May Allah be Pleased with him and Grant him Paradise!!
