County Announces Holiday Closures

Trash collection schedules will also change.

Baltimore County has announced closures for the upcoming holidays.

District and Circuit courts, health department clinics, libraries, senior centers, landfills, drop-off centers and the county animal shelter will be closed on Christmas, Dec. 25., and New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2013, according to a news release from the county. The CountyRide van will also not run on those days.

County residents who typically have their trash collected on Tuesday mornings should instead set it out at night on Christmas and New Year's Day—which are both on Tuesdays—for Wednesday collection, the release reads. Recyclabes should be held until the next scheduled collection or taken to drop-off centers.

Trash collection may also occur later during the last week of December and first week of January as a result of an increase in material. The county urges residents to leave material out until collection occurs.

There will also be no charge for metered parking or in county-operated parking garages on those days.

District and Circuit courts will also be closed on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, according to the release. Libraries will be closed on Christmas Eve and close at 5:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

The times are a changing. Giant is open tomorrow from 8-5, New Years day is just another business day for the retailers.
In my area, I'm he only one that gives money to the trash collectors and mail person.

Tim what you said is true, but old habits are hard to break. I guess some of it is guilt in not honoring a tradition.

The Halethorpe post office closed at 12 pm today.Their notice to the public was a sign on the door. Since they usually open at 9 am and close at 4 pm I guess working less than half a day is ok with them. Many businesses will close early on Christmas eve but 4 hours early is stretching it. Just sayin'.

The sign on the door says Monday-Friday 9-4. It used to be 9-5 then before that it was 8 to 5.Their Saturday hours keep getting shorter and shorter.
