The Baltimore County Federation of Public Health Nurses (BCFPHN) approved the extension Wednesday night, a week after firefighters and paramedics agreed to a similar extension, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced.
The nurses' agreement was approved by 96 percent of the voting membership.
"I am delighted that we were able to extend another labor agreement last night," Kamenetz said. "What we are seeing over the past week is affirmation of the fact that our employees recognize that we are all in this together."
The agreement provides for a 3 percent bonus as of Oct. 1, 2014 and guarantees no layoffs or furloughs through 2016. A 3 percent cost-of-living allowance would begin on July 1, 2015.
"I am happy that our members approved this agreement," said BCFPHN President Karen Pilecki.
"This agreement recognizes the important work that nurses and nurse practitioners do in Baltimore County, and I appreciate the support that County Executive Kamenetz is showing us with the contract extension."The current contract was set to expire on June 30, 2014. The new agreement extends through June 30, 2016.
