While Democrats across the country wait to hear if Hillary Clinton is going to run for president in 2016, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is preparing for a possible presidential bid, he told The Washington Post.

O’Malley has been meeting with foreign- and domestic-policy experts privately to prepare, and told the newspaper that he would make a good president “for these times especially.”

The governor is in his final term in the statewide office.

“To squander this important period of preparation because of horse-race concerns and handicapping concerns is just not a very productive use of energy,” O’Malley told the Post. “Right now, I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing — the thought work and the preparation work.”

Sources told the newspaper that O’Malley wants to run for the White House in 2016, but probably won’t if Clinton runs. He was the second governor in the country to support Clinton’s 2008 run for the presidential nomination.

Oh dear Lord help us all !!! ...just when you thought things couldn't get worse. And Hillary? she's the worst of both worlds... pro-war, anti-family, big government etc.

This would be in keeping with the current state of corrupted affairs...Constitutional violations can not be tolerated for extended periods of time. There has to be a limit that has not been met...yet..until then, the limits will continue to be pushed..

Mr, O'Malley is really running for Vice-President, having established (at the expense of our liberty and our purse), the ultra-liberal credentials necessary in a vice-presidential candidate that can make Hillary look like a centrist. His absence of flash and charisma only helps in this regard.

In response to Jerry--Reasons why Hillary would NEVER pick MOM as running mate for VP.* I'm no HC fan but I respect her political intelligence. Here's why she wouldn't pick Martin as her running mate.*1--He may have supported her last time but he wouldn't even carry the state for her. Maryland, will go to whomever gets the Democratic Presidential nod anyway, so HC will see no "value added"--she needs to pick up a VP who will deliver the states in play. *2--Martin would spend his entire time as VP running his campaign to be HC's successor. *3-Having spent almost two decades, first as Mayor then as Governor getting his way all the time and telling people what to do, willingly stepping down to number 2, doing whatever HC wants him to do (without pushback and complaining) and staying out of the limelight is something MOM is just not capable of doing. Who wants a high maintenance VP--which is exactly what Martin would be. *4 HC is smart enough to realize that she will still likely have a Republican-controlled House (and possibly a Republican controlled Senate) so if she wants to get any legislation passed, she is going to need a VP who has demonstrated the ability to negotiate and build consensus across party lines--something Martin has never had to even worry about as the Baltimore City Council and the Maryland General Assembly have basically rubberstamped MOM's agendas. *5. The VP needs to be a team player--something MOM has never been accused of. *6 Martin will be hogging the time slots at Elizabeth Arden's and the White House gym. *7 Maryland has had such a long history of misbehaving politicians that Marylanders barely blink when a personal skeleton slips outside the closet. Not so for most of the rest of the country. MOM has plenty of skeletons and the door isn't even locked --many of them are common knowledge. MOM will be off the short list before the preliminary background check is even completed. by HC's campaign office. **PS--Yes, Jerry, I recognized your sarcasm but not every read will. Hence my reply.

Martin makes me laugh

I wish him well - he works hard for Maryland - he believes in what he does - Life is surprising and the future comes one day at a time - We all change and can make a meaningful difference in this world - It is his time and place - Believe !

Someone has obviously drunk the Kool-Aid. Martin is only looking out for one person--himself. MOM has convinced himself that as President of the National Democratic Governor's Association he is a National political figure--with a 2% recognition rating. How well do you think it is going to play nationally when the rest of the country learns he has raised taxes 37 times during his tenure as governor?
