Resurfacing For Chapel, Forge, Bangert in Perry Hall

Work should be completed on the roadways this fall.

Three northeastern Perry Hall roadways are slated for facelifts this fall.

Councilman David Marks on Tuesday announced plans to resurface the entire 1.1-mile stretch of Chapel Road, from Joppa to Belair Roads; the 2.9-mile stretch of Forge Road; and the .92 mile length of Bangert Avenue.

Specific dates for the projects and possible detours have not yet been released.

Marks worked to prevent and reduce planned widening projects for Chapel Road and Forge Road last year. During those processes, he emphasized the need to resurface both.

"I thank County Executive Kamenetz for supporting my request to resurface five miles of heavily-traveled roads in Perry Hall.  I would also like to thank Senator J.B. Jennings and Delegate Kathy Szeliga, both of whom have advocated for these important improvements in their district," Marks stated in a press release.

"Every day, thousands of motorists use these roads, including residents from the developing neighborhoods along the Forge Road corridor. Getting these roads improved has been a top priority," he added.

Dennis M. Robinson, Jr., president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, added his support.

“I recognize that, like many other jurisdictions throughout the country, Baltimore County has to prioritize projects during these challenging economic times. I applaud County Executive Kamenetz and Councilman Marks for allocating resources to make improvements to roads that many of us in Perry Hall use on a regular basis,” Robinson stated in the announcement.

Do you regularly use any of these roadways? Which roads should be next on the list for resurfacing? Tell us in the comments.

Gary, thank you as always for your positive comments. At a time when there are many roads that may need improvement, I'm sure you are happy that such a well-traveled corridor in Perry Hall is getting attention, and one that in particular leads to your home. I'm sure your neighbors are happy that Baltimore County will no longer be buying or condemning their property to build what would amount to an expressway along Chapel Road. Also, it's 63,000 inches of Chapel Road that are being resurfaced.

Awesome! Chapel really needs it. In fact Chapel Rd could use some minor expansion in the middle portion.

Mr. Marks, Is there any way to insure that the projects are done in condensed manner? When they resurfaced Joppa Road it seems that it was spread out over a long time and it took them a long time to repaint the centerline. This wasn't too bad on Joppa Road which is fairly wide. If the same thing happens on Forge Road or Chapel Road it would be much worse since these roads are so narrow. Thanks for all your work to improve the roads in Perry Hall. Forge Road is especially bad with all the patches that have been done over the last several years.

What about sidewalks on Chapel Road? We could really use them there. Are there any plans for that?
