Marriage for same-sex partners narrowly cleared its first hurdle Friday evening with a 72-67 vote in favor of passing the measure in the House of Delegates.
The bill now moves into the Senate for debate.
Baltimore County lawmakers—20 in total—split the votes 10 for, 10 against. Republican Wade Kach was one of two Republicans who voted for the bill.
