As Arbutus Patch editor Bruce Goldfarb , state highway officials are gearing up for plenty of work in Towson and elsewhere this summer. Here are some of the things you need to be aware of that could impact your drive.
As always, Towson Patch will keep you up-to-date as more projects are announced. And remember to keep tabs on your drive—and even Towson gas prices—with our commute page.
Charles Street Bridge: , crews currently have the right northbound lane of Charles Street between Joppa Road and Kenilworth Drive blocked for roadwork to align the road with the new, expanded Baltimore Beltway bridge. Crews on the bridge are in the final stages of the $38 million project, set to finish this summer.
York Road: Crews are resurfacing and making sidewalk improvements along the state road north of the Baltimore City line.
Interstate 83: This isn't in Towson, but it's worth noting, as it's likely to cause many Towson drivers a good bit of hassle. City crews will close one lane of the Jones Falls Expressway each way at 29th Street for a month starting Friday for utility work. The Baltimore Sun reports that officials urge motorists to seek alternate routes or consider mass transit.
Loch Raven Boulevard:, state highway contractors will be out overnight Sundays through Thursdays over the next month or so to mill and repave the northbound lanes of Loch Raven Boulevard between Taylor Avenue and the city line.
