Seminary Ave. Closed Due to Water Main Break

It's unknown how many water customers will be affected.

(Updated 2:08 p.m.)—A portion of Seminary Avenue in Lutherville is closed following a water main break this morning, according to a Baltimore City Department of Public Works spokesman.

Baltimore City water crews are on the scene of the break, which as of 11:55 a.m.,  which happened this morning near the intersection of Seminary and Oak Hampton Drive. Seminary is closed between Dulaney Valley and Charmuth roads, Kurt Kocher said in an email.

Fifteen homes and a gated community are affected by the break. Kocher said DPW has not yet determined what caused the break.

Kocher said crews hope to have a westbound lane opened later this afternoon, but repairs will last at least through the evening rush hour.

where did that snow come from????

Hi Robert, the snow came from a storm in 2011. I tried to make clear in the cutline for the photo that it wasn't a shot of this morning's disruption. Do you think it's to jarring or confusing for readers? I used it because it best illustrates a water main break. If you think it should be switched out for a more basic, stock photograph let me know.

And actually this picture is from Chantry Road in Springlake - initially the road gave way under the weight of a trash truck to reveal the break
