Baltimore County residents in need of drinking water or who want to get rid of storm debris from Hurricane Sandy now have an option.
The county has designated eight fire stations for the public to obtain water and drop off yard and tree debris from the storm.
"We've done this in the past and we understand that this most recent storm created disruptions all across the region," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement. "Our crews are working all across the County, and I want to make sure that we are using all of our resources to assist County residents in their cleanup efforts."
The water and trash bins are available at the following stations:
- Arbutus Volunteer Fire Station - 5200 Southwestern Boulevard.
- Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Station - 900 Bowleys Quarters Road.
- Eastview Fire Station - 1056 Old Northpoint Road, Dundalk.
- Lutherville Volunteer Fire Station - 1609 Bellona Avenue.
- Parkville Fire Station - 8530 Old Harford Road (dumpster will be on the parking lot of American Legion next door).
- Pikesville Volunteer Fire Station - 40 E. Sudbrook Road.
- Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Station - 10010 Liberty Road.
- Westview Fire Station - 6300 Johnnycake Road.
Residents can fill their own containers with water from outdoor spigots at the stations.
Trash bins will be available at those stations at least through Nov. 4 and are for yard and tree waste only.
All other materials including carpet, wallboard, gutters and furniture that was damaged by the storm must be taken to one of the county's three drop-off centers:
- White Marsh, 6259 Days Cove Road,White Marsh, MD 21162.
- Cockeysville, 201 Warren Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030.
- Halethorpe, 3310 Transway Road, Halethorpe, MD 21227.
