Dundalk resident John Brown has been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at Chadron State College in Nebraska.
The Dean's List, which requires a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, consists of 384 names. Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of course work during the semester to qualify.
Congratulations to Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts senior Nia Williams, who selected for the Maryland All-State Dance Ensemble.
Williams earned the position after a rigorous audition Jan. 4, at Goucher College. She will perform with the ensemble at various events around the state.
This is the second year Williams has received this recognition for her skilled performance.
Eleven Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts students have been named to the Baltimore County Public Schools All Honors Jazz Ensemble.
The students, who selected following a rigorous audition process, will perform in concert Feb. 2 at the Walters Art Gallery, according to a statement from the school.
The following students were named to the All Honors Jazz Chorus: Nicole Grap, LaSeanda Hendrick, Machell Smith, Lizz Redding, Brianna Murchison, Joshua Langdon, David Jackson, Dennis Bullock, Jahmar Wolford and David Keener.
Matthew Akras was named to an alternate saxophone position in the All Honors Jazz band.

A new episode of “BCPS News,” which spotlights Baltimore County Public Schools’ achievements and progress, will be on the air from Monday, Jan. 14, through Sunday, Jan. 27. The show is hosted by Mary Beth Marsden, a local Emmy Award-winning broadcaster.
Produced twice a month during the school year by BCPS-TV (The Education Channel), “BCPS News” airs daily at 12:30 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. on Comcast Cable Channel 73 and Verizon FiOS Channel 34 in Baltimore County.
The latest 15-minute episode includes stories about Deer Park Middle School students who recently visited the Hippodrome Theatre to take master classes with actors from the play “Billy Elliot" and what high school students need to know about applying for federal student aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), as explained by Loch Raven High School counselor Alastair Palmer.
