University of Phoenix to Close Timonium Campus

The college is closing 115 locations nationwide.

The University of Phoenix Timonium campus is one of 115 locations that the college will be shuttering in light of a declining enrollment, the Baltimore Business Journal reports

The New York Times first reported Wednesday that the nation's largest for-profit college will close 115 locations, laying off about 800 employees and affecting about 13,000 students.

Apollo Group Inc., which owns the University of Phoenix, is closing down the "lesser-performing campuses" in an effort to save more than $300 million, according to the Business Journal. The company will be keeping its Columbia, MD location open.

The attacks on Phoenix happen because Phoenix is a threat to offline universities. I am a Phoenix. I have checked out the negative hype. The accusations are unfounded. The credits transfer to other 'legit' universities. I have contacted professionals in the workplace (IT) and some of them are Phoenix graduates. Phoenix rocks. I love sitting in the comfort of my own home and learning. I avoid driving to and walking all over some huge campus (if I want to walk around someplace I can go to the park), and as a consequence of not walking and not driving I save time and money. Online is the future. Even elementary and middle schools are moving online. My daughter has supplementary online material right now, in a few years she will have the option to stay at home. If you are thinking about children and socialization, children can socialize outside of offline schools. Furthermore, our online library is amazing and it is one of my favorite aspects of Phoenix university. We have access to just about every database you can imagine.
