The West Towson Elementary School Parent Teacher Association is encouraging students to eat healthy through a friendly competition.
On Tuesday, the school is holding its second annual Food for Thought: West Towson Taste-Off, according to a news release.
The competition encourages students to try different types of produce including sweet potatoes, snap peas, berries, arugula and cherry tomatoes, the release states. The students will rotate through eight different tasting stations, and each will receive a mark for every item tasted.
The class that tastes the most produce, based on percentage, will receive extra recess time.
The students will also create a chart where they list their favorite and least favorite fruit or vegetable, according to the release.
"We are excited to continue leading by example when it comes to promoting healthy eating practices, active lifestyles and mindfulness within [West Towson]," the release states.
