West Towson Fundraiser Nets $40,000

The second Westy's Walk drew more than 350 kids to the Goucher College campus.

It wasn't eactly the Preakness, but over at on Sunday, a group of students struck it big on the track.

More than 350 students raised pledges and participated in the school's second Westy's Walk, raising more than $40,000 to go towards a new playground at the school.

Parents and teachers showed up to cheer the kids on and bid in a silent auction.

"A lot of the teachers put themselves up for auction, like lunch with your teacher or pizza after school with your teachers," said Cathi Forbes, a West Towson PTA member.

Forbes shared a few pictures with us from Sunday's walk.

Kudos to the West Towson Elementary teachers, staff, PTA, volunteers, parents and students for organizing such a successful event. Makes me proud to be a Baltimore County citizen.
