VIDEO: Ravens Coach John Harbaugh Speaks to St. Paul's School for Girls

The Super Bowl-winning coach talked about teamwork to a gym full of Gators and Crusaders from the boys' school.

Whoever thought Gators, Crusaders and one very special Raven could get along?  Turns out we have the video proof.  Jokes aside, the Gators of St. Paul's School for Girls and the Crusaders of St. Paul's School in Brooklandville, MD, were treated to an inspiring speech from Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh Tuesday.  "After discussing the season and the big game, he encouraged us to be a team and lift each other up, to thank our parents for all of their hard work, and to use our talents to help others!" according to the SPSG's website. "Students from each school asked questions about the team, the season, and the future of the Baltimore Ravens." If that weren't enough, Coach Harbaugh ended his speech by teaching students from both …

Maryland General Assembly Notebook 2013

Miller Gets His Bust

A state senator wants a new state bird; one man's technolgical fortress is his castle; and the Senate president feels snubbed by Obama.

It's not a statue in front of the office building that bares his name but Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller did receive a bust of himself this week courtesy of the Regional Manufacturing Institute. Sen. Kathy Klausmeier, a Perry Hall Democrat, gave a sneak preview of the small, light-weight bust of Miller moments before presenting it to the Senate's top dog. "You can't have too much Mike Miller," Klausmeier said. The technology is similar to what was used in a scene of Jurassic Park 3 where a copy of a velociraptor's larynx was recreated. The institute offered legislators in Annapolis the opportunity to have themselves scanned into a computer and get busts of themselves. Miller seemed impressed with the petite bust but joked that it …

Jones Touchdown Means Free Furniture in Maryland

One local furniture chain will be reimbursing more than a half-million in weekend sales after Ravens speedster Jacoby Jones returned the third-quarter kickoff for a touchdown in Super Bowl XLVII Sunday.

Some lucky Baltimore-area residents enjoyed their new couches a whole lot more in the second half of Sunday's Super Bowl. Because Jacoby Jones returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter for a touchdown, Gardiner's Furniture will fulfill a promise to refund all purchases made in their stores over the weekend. Sports blog Deadspin has a video of the 108-yard return, the longest play in NFL postseason history. On its Facebook page Sunday night, Gardiner's Furniture posted: That was amazing! Furniture is FREE! If you made a purchase this weekend, it's your lucky day. Go Ravens! John J. Campion Jr. wrote: "Thank you Jacoby Jones for our new table set!!!!" Kalea Kaiser posted: "Yeah baby!
