Dancers make their moves to 1960s music at the weekly FSDC dance.
It was 25 years ago that dance teacher Chuck Alexander began to run dances at the American Legion hall on York Road. "People needed a place to go after they learn to dance, so they ought to go someplace to dance," he said, "so that's what we've been doing." Alexander is the president of Friday Swing Dance Club, which holds a dance every Friday night with the exception of Christmas Eve, New Year's—and one day in July. "We take one night off in July because the floor is refinished," Alexander said, "and then we dance it all down again so they have to refinish it the next year."
