The Maryland Home and Garden Show is in full swing at the Maryland State Fairgrounds this and next weekend. And Patch is giving you the chance to get in for free. The theme of this year's show is Film in Flowers, with extraordinary garden designs on display inspired by popular Hollywood movies. The Maryland State Fairgrounds play host to the World of Pets Expo this weekend.

Add your own photos and videos from the expo by using the links above and below the gallery. Usually the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds plays host to animals of a more barnyard variety. But not this weekend. Animal lovers can bring the favorite furred or feathered friends for the annual World of Pets Expo at the Timonium Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday.  Pet owners will find resources for all animals—products, food, training classes, entertainment—basically anything that would help give a better life to your pet. And of course, don't forget the Dock Dogs. The World of Pets Expo runs Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. Police Arrest 2 Men at Timonium Gun and Knife Show

The pair allegedly responsible for selling illegal, high-capacity magazines.

UPDATE (4:12 p.m.)—Two men were arrested over the weekend after allegedly selling illegal high-capacity magazines at the Timonium Gun and Knife Show, according to Baltimore County police. John Heilmeier, 57, of Cumberland, VA, and Richard Summers, 64, of Waldorf, MD, both face firearms charges after an undercover officer observed the sale of what police said was a 30-round magazine. Read a description of the investigation below. The detective witnessed the sale on Jan. 11 during the gun show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds,  according to a statement released Wednesday by the Baltimore County Police Department. Both men were taken into custody at the show and were later charged with misdemeanor offenses related to gun-related transactions…

Timonium Gun Show Gets Boost From Talk of Assault Rifle Ban

The fairly regular event at the Maryland State Fairgrounds drew an early line Friday and is expected to grow Saturday.

Gun enthusiasts lined up around Exhibition Hall at the Maryland State Fairgrounds Friday, drawn to this weekend's gun show because of fears about possible new laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre "Because people are scared," Neil Kravitz, a spokesman for the gun show, said. "The minute they say the word 'gun ban' 300 million guns are going to change hands. "It’s no different than going on the air and saying 'there’s going to be a snowstorm,'" he continued. "Then [the supermarkets] run out of toilet paper. There is no difference." Time-Lapse Video: Setting Up the Festival of Trees

A process that normally takes days is shrunk down to just three minutes.

Santa Claus has elves? That's cute.  Kennedy Krieger has teams of volunteers and employees. Both help ring in the holiday season. Kennedy Krieger however, brings it to Timonium. Watch the time lapse video to see what goes into setting up the winter wonderland that becomes of the largest Christmas festivals in the Mid-Atlantic. The Festival of Trees is open now at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. More than 600 trees, wreaths and gingerbread homes are available for purchase to benefit the Kennedy Krieger Institute. We'll have more on the festival over the next three days.

Kamenetz Opens 25th Annual Senior/Baby Boomer Expo

The County Executive explains why seniors and caregivers should come to Timonium Wednesday and Thursday.

The Baltimore County Baby Boomer/Senior Expo is underway and Baltimore County's aging population is out in full force.  By noon, parking was at a premium at the Maryland State Fairgrounds where thousands perused the latest resources for senior citizens and caregivers at the 25th annual event. “It’s really really grown into one of the largest events of its kind, not only addressing outreach to seniors but also to caregivers and those entering close to retirement age,” County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said.  Kamenetz led the opening ceremonies at little before 1 p.m. Wednesday. Baby Boomer/Senior Expo Celebrates Silver Anniversary

The annual expo—with over 250 exhibitors—takes place Wednesday and Thursday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

The Baby Boomer/Senior Expo is about more than just preparing for the twilight years. “It’s not about aging. It’s about living,” Debbie Orlove, community/business liaison in the Baltimore County Department of Aging, said. The 25th annual expo takes place Wednesday and Thursday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, with the emphasis on providing products, resources and information for the county’s aging population. “It offers one-stop-shopping. The Maryland Brewer's Association annual Oktoberfest celebration returns to the Maryland State Fairgrounds this weekend.  Twenty-three Maryland breweries will be serving up the best brews the state has to offer.  The beer will flow Oct. 13, from noon to 5:45 p.m. in the grandstand at the Timonium fairgrounds racetrack.  Saturday’s Oktoberfest will be a great opportunity to check out stalwarts like Olivers Breweries, DuClaw Brewing, Flying Dog and The Brewer’s Art but will also offer a chance to sample suds from relative newcomers to the Maryland brewing scene. GALLERY: A Glimpse Into the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival

The festival runs from Friday to Sunday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

Every artist has a story to tell.  Every photograph, painting, sculpture or garment was born out of inspiration. At the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival this weekend, there are more than 250 designers and artisans eager to tell you theirs. "This award-winning three-day festival will showcase fine contemporary crafts that capture the spirit of the fall season," according to a release. The Band Perry to Perform at Maryland State Fair

The 2012 Grammy Best New Artist and ACM Vocal Group of the Year nominees, will perform Sept. 1.

The Band Perry, it was just announced, will be one of (at least) three headlining acts to performing at the 131st Maryland State Fair this summer. "The Band Perry’s 'modern throwback' style, that combines classic country with an eclectic infusion of rock, gospel and soul sound, is reflected on their self-titled certified Platinum debut album THE BAND PERRY, as well as their second album due out later this year," according to a release. The group was this year nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist, as well as the American Country Music Awards Vocal Group of the Year.  Tickets are $39 for general admission and $75 for VIP seating.
