Baltimore-Area Man Arrested in Federal Infringement Case

Naveed Sheikh, 31, was arrested Tuesday at Washington Dulles International Airport. He has used addressed in Bel Air, Cockeysville and Towson.

Federal authorities have arrested a Baltimore-area man on charges he copied and sold pirated copies of more than 100 computer programs, the Maryland U.S. Attorney's office announced Wednesday. Naveed Sheikh, 31, was arrested when entering the country on Tuesday at Washington Dulles International Airport. He had fled to Pakistan shortly before the grand jury indictment was released on Jan. 13, according to the federal prosecutor's office. Sheikh is charged with one count of advertising and selling pirated software. He is currently being held in Virginia, pending a Feb. 3 detention hearing, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
