Man Killed After Car Strikes Tree in Towson

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, near the intersection of East Joppa Road and Prince Road.

A 52-year-old man was killed Thursday after his Chevy Malibu struck a tree near the intersection of East Joppa Road and Prince Road in Towson. At 7:54 a.m., the car, which was traveling eastbound on Joppa Road, crossed the center line and went into the northbound lane, said Louise Rogers-Feher, a Baltimore County Police spokeswoman. The Malibu reportedly then briefly straddled a curb before overturning and hitting a tree. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police are in the process of notifying family members about the accident and have not yet released a name. I am very curious and saddened by the situation. I heard the crash from my house, and when I got outside, there were a number of people around the car, but I am curious to know what happened and why. If the Patch could do a follow up article, I would appreciate it.   more ›

Armored Truck Accident Causes Delays on York Road

The accident occurred in the front of the AAA building in Towson on Tuesday afternoon.

A Tuesday afternoon armored truck accident is causing delays on York Road, extending to Bosley Road. The truck, which was traveling northbound, went off the road and into a parking lot near the AAA building in the 1000 block of York Road. Once in the lot, the vehicle crashed into a burgundy sedan. Baltimore County police  are investigating the accident. A Hart to Heart ambulance was also present at the scene, Patch observed. It appeared however that there were no serious injuries. Police cruisers blocked the right shoulder lane at the entrance to Safeway, as officers inspected the vehicle and its engine. The burgundy color sedan showed damage to the front driver side. 3-Vehicle Car Accident Blocks Charles Street

Towson traffic police are on the scene near Chestnut Avenue investigating.

Charles Street near Chestnut Avenue is blocked following a three-vehicle car crash Tuesday afternoon. An Acura driving southbound on Charles Street crossed the median and collided with a Subaru Outback traveling northbound at around 12:30 p.m., said Louise Rogers-Feher, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman. The Outback then hit a Mazda that was also traveling northbound. Two people were transported to a hospital for precautionary treatment, police said.  A portion of Charles Street is blocked off as the Towson police precinct's traffic officers investigate the accident.
