A popular Towson Winterfest event will be pushed back a week. According to an email from Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, Fire & Ice has been rescheduled for Dec. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event was originally scheduled for Friday evening. Fire & Ice features ice sculptures around downtown Towson and fire pits, where attendees can snack on smores. Recently opened Towson bakery La Cakerie will be passing out desserts and hot chocolate. All other Winterfest events, including Saturday morning's Breakfast with Santa, are expected to go on as scheduled.
The month long celebration features holiday events.
The annual county Christmas tree lighting may mark the start of the holiday season, but Towson's WinterFest keeps the spirit going. The Towson Chamber of Commerce is putting on a series of events to keep the community vibrant throughout December. "We would have hundreds of people coming to Towson for the tree lighting and we wanted to do something to keep them around," said Nancy Hafford, executive director of the chamber. Hafford noted that the events from WinterFest—which began three years ago— were inspired by holiday celebrations she saw while visiting other areas in the state.
