Orioles Opening Day: Details, Traffic & Weather

Patch previews Opening Day for the Orioles, who host the Twins Friday at Camden Yards.

The Orioles return to Oriole Park at Camden Yards for the first time since defeating the Yankees in Game 2 of the American League Division Series last fall. It's been a long winter, but to many fans, it felt like the shortest one in 15 years. A winning campaign last season means the first of 81 regular season games at Camden Yards comes with heightened anticipation. A 2-1 start against division rivals Tampa Bay doesn't hurt, either. Like with the roster, there aren't any major changes to Camden Yards itself. However, the warning track that rings the field just inside the fence has been replaced—the original synthetic surface was removed in favor of a blend of natural materials. The right field flag court features a new flag pole—that of …

I lived on Dundawan Road when I was a kid. I remember the first year that Earl and his family lived on our street. We were all aware of who our famous neighbor was, but we didn't really see all that much of him, with the Orioles schedule, but on Halloween he was the one who opened the door and he welcomed us all into his house to collect our candy. I remember he gave a LOT of candy out that year.   more ›

Orioles Search for Ballboys, Ballgirls

An open tryout will be held Saturday at Camden Yards.

You may not be the next Manny Machado, but you may have a shot at being the next Baltimore Orioles ballboy or ballgirl. The Orioles are looking for athletic men and women 18 or older for the 2013 season. Participants are asked to dress casually and bring their own baseball gloves, according to a news release. The team asks that ballboys and ballgirls be "personable, customer-service oriented and available to work the entire 2013 season," in addition to being able to field ground balls.
