Leave a note for your neighbor

Buzz, I just read this note also. I hope your mom is improving. I knew her casually years ago. Knew your dad, too. They were a nice couple. I never made the connection until a month or so ago.

The connection from the 70's was with a person I knew long ago who was an officer in Dundalk back then.

Bart, I just recently noticed your note. I take care of my mother who is 91 and has some serious issues and it consumes most of one's time.

The July 1 issues dealt with a purge in the command staff and the start of a new budget year. What was not reported and I think I know why, was the amount of money they received.

Some of them received almost $1 million in cash, along with pensions ranging from between $150,000 and $180,000. If you calculate the amount of money spent on these pensions which also include the Fire Department and other county employees the cost is staggering.

This is a result of the Drop program, CL and unused vacation time. KK added another 9% as a incentive if they left in a certain time frame.

I would guess that the total cost of this lucrative pension and Drop program will cost somewhere around $20 million or more.

My sources come from deep inside both the county and police departments.

The county is facing between $165 million and $185 million to comply with the ADA as a result of Homan's policies. This amount only reflects on the cost to bring the county buildings into compliance.

There are many more pending cases out there involving county employees from across the board.

I was fired in 1972 over a hair cut, and reinstated in 75 and assigned to Eastern Traffic in Essex.

My sources come from those deep inside the county hierarchy.

Bart, I have driven through Riderwood Hills now several times at different times of day. I live in close proximity. I have attempted to develop several ideas and none are worth sharing. I will keep thinking and discussing your concerns with my colleagues.

Best,

JT

Thanks for the response Bart, I missed your post until just now- my apologies as I was unaware of this feature on Patch. There are private sector solutions to many of our concerns but they require the public sector to engage with us. All too often they measure an initiatives merit by the risk they conjecture concerning votes and not the actual and pragmatic impact it could have- especially once (and if) vetted in the open. I have offered solutions for years to Burke Ave- tested them with consultants and 3rd party professionals. When they have passed, I have presented them for consideration- and its always "not the right time" "not my job" "why would I want to do that" "what is the guarantee it will work" and so forth... all of which by the way was requested without the need for public money... innovative, private sector solutions can work when investors are locally minded and reasonable about their returns... unfortunately, the political climate is only serving to fuel unreasonable expectations ...

I told you I would not move on this if you act civil. Just so you are aware, based on your statements involving the SH and your use of your laptop, you are putting the bar in a bad situation.

Remember Sonny? What you have done constitutes a liquor law issue and look at the position Mohler would be in? If I did push this, imagine the mess this would stir up for anyone connected politically with that place. The fallout would not be good for both John's, Crizer, Kamenetz and Vandemellion.

I don't think they would be very happy to be dragged through something like this.

A reference of this type is a very serious issue. Look at the most recent cases and the consequences.

Once you put it out there, out there it stays and you should know that.

I am not out to hurt anyone or destroy their reputation. Just think before you act.

When I ran for office, there was a cop in the crowd who was drunk and yelled something obscene at me. I knew him. Witnesses came forward and wanted me to have him charged under departmental charges. I walked over and then he realized his job was at stake. I said my piece and that was it.
