TIMONIUM, MD — German fans do not have to wait until October to get out their lederhosen. The German American Associations in Maryland is putting on the German Festival this weekend at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.
Spanning Saturday and Sunday, the festival includes German bands, German food like pretzels and schnitzel and of course, German libations, including beer, wine and Schnapps as well as nonalcoholic drinks. For children, a climbing wall and pony rides will be available from 1 to 6 p.m. both days. Puppet shows are also on tap.
Tickets are available online (for Saturday and/or Sunday) and at the gate. Admission is $10 for adults, but $7 for military with identification, students and senior citizens. Children under 12 get in free. People who come in costume get in free as well, organizers say. Parking is also free.
